My life mantra

Que Sera, Sera

When I was just a little girl

I asked my mother
What will I be
Will I be pretty
Will I be rich
Here's what she said to me
Que sera, sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be, will be
When I grew up and fell in love
I asked my sweetheart
What lies ahead
Will we have rainbows
Day after day
Here's what my sweetheart said
Que sera, sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be, will be
Now I have Children of my own
They ask their mother
What will I be
Will I be handsome
Will I be rich
I tell them tenderly
Que sera, sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be, will be
Que Sera, Sera

I love this song. Partly because it brings back memories of my girlhood, partly because it is sung by Doris Day and partly because I believe it to be true! Many moons ago, if you asked me about marriage I would have looked you straight in the eye, firmly folded my arms and said quite plainly – I am never getting married! Did I mention my wedding is in less than five months? And, I am marrying a man I love so much I dare to call him my soul mate. So, there we have it. One day, when my child asks me what will I be? I will sing Que Sera, Sera. Being twenty-four, I won't be having children of my own for many more moons to come...but, in the words of Miss Day, Que Sera, Sera...
